I'm Nick Kelly, one of many Nick Kellys out there in the world wild web, but I'm the only ME that you'll ever know, and most folx are thankful for that. I'm a musician, a writer, an artist, a motorcycle rider, a hockey fanatic, a horror movie lover, a father, a husband, a son, and an overall lunatic. I've got some good stories so far on this wild ride I've called life and more comin' seemingly everyday, so hang out, pour yourself one up to the brim, and buckle up for safety. It's going to be a fun ride. more

Filling Up Your Dance Card - Summer Breezes, Tanned Squeezes and Extra Cheeses

So as the thermometer starts rising, the calendar starts filling up. It looks like the musician side of this crazy Cat is taking over the forebrain. Since my long time writing partner, Danny Martelino, and I decided to get our butts in gear with Just Wanna Play, things have really taken off.

For anyone who doesn't know, JWP is a musical troupe of sorts, where we have a core group of musicians but at any show, the crowd could see as many as ten different performers, each with their own vocal and musical talents. It makes for some very very fun nights, and a lot of times, what we like to call organized chaos.

Anyway, we did a few gigs with JWP as just me and Danny and two guitars, and soon, usually thru their own persistence, we were joined on stage by different singers and percussionists. Now, JWP (www.myspace.com/justwannaplay) is going to do a gig in August as a SIX-piece band, with two guitars, bass, drums and five different singers. Sheesh! We're playing at our home away from home, Jaxx Nightclub in Springfield, VA on August 12th. Message me for tickets if you're interested. We're breaking in a few of these folx at this gig, so come out and give 'em some love.

Division is...well...Division. (www.myspace.com/divisionusa) We chug along like the evil black machine that we are, rehearsing for the August 5th gig at East Coast Billiards in Woodbridge, VA, before taking the road and hitting Atlanta, Michigan and Minnesota. If you're near any of those locations, drop me a line, let's hang!

Suckerpunch lost a dear friend when drummer Steve Kulley resigned from the band. He's been a mainstay with us for years, and his singing and playing really gave us a great energy when the band was down in the dumps. Fortunately, a buddy I haven't shared a stage with since High School found me on the "I'm not bad, I'm just perceived that way on Fox News every night" MySpace. So, Ray has joined JWP and Suckerpunch full time. He's a phenomenal player, we just won't put a mic in front of him. haha. His first official Punch gig is September 22nd with us at KC's in Manassas, VA. (Cheese reference - yes, we're still playing the great cheezy dance rock we all love (see Duran Duran, Brickhouse, Looking Glass, etc etc)

So what about the tanned squeezes, yeah I know, the part everyone really wants to read about. I've been honored to support Team Physique, the VA-based bodybuilding team boasting male and female competitors in bodybuilding and figure competitions all summer. The team did great in Annapolis and with the Potomac Cup coming up in just a couple weeks, it'll be awesome to cheer on Sybir, Rob, Shellshock and the crew. See www.myspace.com/teampx for a little info.

On a personal note, huge huge congrats to my Flyer fan buddies Dave and Tim, who are each celebrating the recent birth of a child. Tim and his wife had a beautiful baby girl. David, in an effort to get even less sleep than he does now, and his wife celebrated the arrival of a bouncing baby right winger. David came to mind because he and I continue to work on the future stories for the not-yet-world-renowned comic hero, Catwalk.

In the Stay Tuned category - Keep October in mind. There's some very cool chit brewin for October that involves bikes, chicks, and loud live music.

Thanks for list'nin!
One Love!
NK

I did it, I did it. *happy dance*
