Airport Goodbyes
Airport Goodbyes
Here I am. In an airport. In Dallas. Still.
I got here before 9 am local time, and missed my 10:50 flight because they moved gates on me and I couldn’t get to the right gate, despite running through the airport like OJ Simpson on that old luggage commercial. Instead, I’m rummaging through WIRED magazine and commiserating with Sybir.
I used to say the saddest communication in the entire world was Airport Goodbyes. The tearful moments before separation, when a young couple, or family members, or friends, or whomever tries to think of something to say other than I Love You. The day job has made me travel so much over the last two years that those don’t really affect me the way they used to, but it’s still sad to watch others go through it.
It was a good week, but I want to be home. I miss Sybir and Pup in a big way, and Division’s got a gig tomorrow night. I need sleep. Fortunately through the never-unavailable nature of the world today, they haven’t been far. Pup is in pix on my phone and my Yahoo! Widget Picture Frame. Sybir and I text like we’re high school kids crushin’ on each other.
Back to biz when I get home. I’ve gotta hit the bands and day job stuff with a sickness. I love bein’ me, but that covers a lot of ground sometimes.
I’ll see some of you tomorrow night, can’t wait. For the rest, I’ll see you soon and it’ll be fun, I know it.
One Love
